oil types for 1.9 CDTI

Hello,

I have an 1.9 CDTI and I want to change the oil, by myself, using what I have found in the how2 section written by Duncan. The question I'm about to ask it's related to the oil : what type I need to use ? I know my car use 5W-20 Super Synthetic Oil as I found 2 stickers above the engine from previous revisions (the car was brought from Germany), and I also found in the manual that I can use another 2 types of oil : 5W-30 and 5W-40.
What is the recommended oil type ?

Another question is related to what I have found also in the manual : with the above oil types, an oil change can be done on a petrol engine after 20,000 miles (30,000 km) and on a diesel engine after 30,000 miles (50,000 km). My last oil change has been made when the car had 103,000 km, and now it has 120,000 km. Is it necessary to change the oil or should I stick to the manual ?

PS. I know this questions may look stupid, but I am really a newbie related to cars, I like my car and I want to learn to take care of it by myself, so please don't be to hard on me.

recommended oil is 5W30.. the current max service intervals are 20K miles for the 1.9CDti or 10,000 if it has a particle filter..

they are the new MAX figures... VX/Opel cut them back due to problems.. so Just because the book that came with the car says 30,000 this should now be ignored..

Don't think we have 5w-20 oil here, maybe its for a colder climate? We use the fully synth 5w-30 mostly.

Rule of thumb, the more often you change the oil the longer the engine will last If your thinking of changing it go ahead, it can only be a good thing. For the cost, i'd do it.

It's true, an oil change done quicker than what says in the manual can do only good for the engine.
Should I do also an engine flush before changing the oil ? I have no idea if this car had an engine flush done before, I might try to do that but I've read different opinions on engine flush on this forum and I'm not really convince that I should go for it. I also have found this :
"The Facts... The fact is, if you do frequent engine oil and filter changes and service the transmission every 15,000 miles there is no need for a flush. I have customers that change their oil every 3,000 miles and they don't need to use fancy oils and filters, and after over 100,000 miles, the oil comes out almost as clean as it goes in. They have regular transmission services and their transmission still shifts like new, even with well over 100,000 miles on it.
If you have neglected regular oil changes and you want to do some interior engine cleaning, get the oil and filter changed and replace one quart of motor oil for one quart of transmission fluid. The transmission fluid has a high detergent content that will clean the engine without damaging it. Do this every 3,000 miles and you will clean the inside of the engine slowly and gently.
If you do get a flush, I recommend you do it when you can afford to replace the engine or transmission."

According to this, there is no need for an engine flush ...

Don't do it. The flush could do more damage than good. (imo anyway)

yep. The rule is, never flush an engine that hasn't been regularly flushed before.. so, if you have never flushed your own engine the best advice is not to do it..
