    Default front suspension noise

recently the council in there wisdom around where i live have gone mad on so called speed bumps, not just normal humps but extended ones that are the length of your car and the height of the kerbs.I have no choice but to go over these things (no other route)but i am now having noises commingfrom the front suspension, started sounding like the front lip was rubbing on the floor (wasn't)when coming back down off the humps but now has turned into what sounds like the spring is loose or broken on the n/s(will have to look at it at work tonight).
Are there any decent front suspension kits available (not to dear after xmas!!) to cure this problem? or has anyone else had the same noises?
    cheers Steve

its obviously out of warranty then being a dti???

if it is and you have a craked or broken spring, new OE springs arent that expensive, even from Vauxhall. if youre after lowered springs, most spring companies sell kits for under £100 although i'd pay a little more and stretch to a quality kit like eibach.

But i'd find out whats making the noise first. I take it you haventhad a good look under the car yet?

I'd start by squirting a bit of WD40 on the bushes first (anti roll bar, too). Could be a bit dry and it's a cheap and easy fix if that's the case

Hi i have a 2.2 dti sri and experienced a similar problem. Went over my local speed hump not fast about 20mph and the spanner light came on and battery light. Nothing appeared to go wrong so carried on to work.

Got a bit annoyed so turned my engine off and restarted and the light didnt come on, great i thought, till i got another mile down the road. And yes on it came again.

Had to carry on otherwise would be late for work then the power steering went heavy and the noise from the engine was terrible. Making a real squeeling noise and banging sound. Got to work and tried to forget about it.

The same happened on the way home so phoned VX still under warranty and said bring it in.

The fault was a sheered bolt on the alternator pre tensioner which runs your power steering. The bolt was trapped in the belt itself causing this horrific noise.

Forgot to mention most of my electrics stopped working ie:fan,ac,rear heater, defroster button.

They repaired it under warranty and also said they did a mod on my turbo under the recall list. Anybody any ideas what this was, cant notice anything different in performance wise?

i'v just got mine back from garage, took it in for noises from what sounded like the suspention when going over bumps.

picked it up, and they have replaced bushes & anti roll bar bushes, they also said, it needs new brakes and a new drivebelt and pullly...
they seem to have sorted the noises tho.

i'm very shocked, its only just gone 9k on the clock, surely bushes last longer than that.

IIRC it was a mod on the manifold, as they were susceptable to leak and cause a whistling noise, much more than it should.
