Default castrol gtx magnetec vs stnd vaux oil?

As above. Does castrol gtx magnetec provide any benfetis over the standard GM oil? Is it worth the extra cash?

not really... i'd reccomend just sticking to the VX oils.. the cars are designed with it in mind, and VITALLY you MUST use VX oil's for their low sulphur content if you have a diesel with a DPF..

Dont have to worry about the DPF as it is a petrol (1.8 VVTi). Planing on doing an oil change this weekend, and been offered 10ltrs of Castrol GTX Magnetec from my neighbor for nothing. It is rated as 5w30 so i am assuming it will be allright?

if it's free, and as it's going into a petrol, then yes it's fine, BUT don't leave it in beyond 10,000 miles as it's not a longlife oil

    You'll need a oil filter socket, think it's either 32mm or 38mm.

Unscrew cap, replace the paper element AND the o-rings (new ones supplied with the filter), then refit.

    Hi

Basically as above, looking at the engine it is on the right hand side facing the front, about half way down the engine block. It has a black rubber cap with a hex nut on the top. I will get a picture for you tommorow, its a bit on the dark side at the moment. As for the part number I really dont know, I have asked autovaux.co.uk for it. As for price it will proberly be around the £5 mark.

    Hope this helps
