    Default Advice needed...

Ok, so I moved out of my parents house at the end of last year after buying a brand new apartment on the Gateshead quayside, I bought the apartment from the company I work for, so far it's been great living here, apart from one niggling little problem which I'll get to.

Each apartment in the block comes with a designated parking bay, most are outside but 8 of them are located under the building.

As I work for the company I seen the opportunity to have a sheltered parking space as a perk, so I asked for one of them to be mine, the outside spaces are not numbered or marked in anyway due to some rules stated by the local council, however, the inside ones are, each has a number painted on the ground, a plot number used by the company during the build process, since completion the numbers have not been changed but still correspond to the relevant postal addresses, for example, I live in No.68 but my space is marked as "45" as that was the plot number during the build, the space IS mine as I have a document from my solicitor which states exactly which parts of the property are mine and which are the responsibility of the management company.

It's been great so far as I can do all my modding/servicing down there.

    However,

Recently, a mysterious Black Landrover Freelander has appeared and insists on parking in my space, at first it was just the odd occasion (which still pi$$ed me off) but now it's been there for 2 days!

came in last night and it was still there, so I wrote a polite note and placed it under his wiper, meanwhile I had to park my car in one of the laybys on the outskirts of the building which I was not happy about as my insurance have my car down as being in the carpark, anyway, got up this morning, was still there, with my note so I'm assuming the owner hasn't been back,

went to work and decided to ring the site manager back where I live to ask if he knew who it was, he had no idea but said he'd print off a more official looking notice on the site computer to see if that would provoke a reaction, got back from work today and true to his word the site manager had placed a notice on the landrover, he did it this morning and the note is still there, so, once again I'm led to assume the owner has not been back to the car,

Now I'm not an argumentative/angry person but this really is starting to annoy me!

I work very hard to afford my council tax/mortgage payments etc. etc. and I'm currently missing out on part of what I'm paying for!

I've asked around a couple of neighbours that I've met to see if anyone knows the owner or has even seen which apartment he/she goes to but to no avail!

Some have suggested I "block them in" I.E so they come looking for me to be out but TBH I can't see anyway of doing that without inconveniencing my neighbours as with the size of the carpark it would make it very difficult for them to manouvre out of their spaces if my car was parked behind this Landrover.

The Police are not interested as this is (in their eyes) a civil dispute

How can I shift this fool?

Am I within my rights to phone some kind of recovery company and have him towed?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated,

    Kev

I dont think blocking in this landrover is the best idea, unless you can sit there and make sure nothing happens to your car. I think you should just put pressure on your landlord to get the car moved,if they cant find the owner of the car it could be seen as dumped and maybe towed.

Why not have a parking post fitted you can not do anything at the moment about the landrover but by fitting a parking post it will stop anyone else from parking there.

It would proper hack me off too. Could you clamp it? Its on your property. £120 to remove the clamp everytime they park there will soon make them find their own space. Also repaint the number to your house number asap, only a stencil and spray can. Good luck.

Parking post sounds like a good idea.

I have a similar sort of thing in my private car parking spaces. Another story.
I think you should just wait until it's moved. If this is in a a reasonable amount of time. Then get a nice Private Parking sign and put it up in your spot. This should deter the person.
As for getting it towed away. I think thats a bit to far just yet. I think you will just cause yourself loads of trouble with that. IE not having a sign saying it's private and a car could be towed.
I know how annoying it is.

This would boil my blood. Contact the DVLA and report the vehicle as parked on private property, see if they cant contact the owner. Does it have a current tax disc? That may be why its hidden away, that would be a cheaper way to have it removed.

dont think you should get nasty mate as you dont want to fall out with anyone as your car is parked there overnight and you would hate for anyone to touch your car.I think wait to see the person and be nice and civil and tell them the problem first before you take this any further
