    Default Brake Warning Light

Without any warning or noise the 'warning' light came on on my dash/warning system.Hmmmm thought i, only got 40k on the clock so i trawled through the forum and checked the front brakes.
Theres still approx 8-10mm of pad left on boyh sides and look almost 'new'.
So im at a loss??..Does the rear system have a 'warning light',although visually these look ok to..

Have you checked the brake fluid level?

But was it the warning light for low brake pads?

If it was, then a warning should come up in the LED display in the rev counter - a circle with 3 dashes either side of it.

If however it was an exclamation mark with a circle around it, but not in the LED display of the rev counter, then others have already said, low brake fluid (or a faulty handbrake switch)

    Thanks for the quick responses.
    I've checked the fluid level,fine.
The dash light is def the brake warning light and as for the wiring i guess the only way to check is a visual inspection(although a quick visual this aftie didnt show up anything) or a change of the wiring itself...
Does the rear have the same 'warning'system?

There is one warning indicator wire on the front nearside brake, the rears dont have an indicator. They are a bit fragile and normally break when you change the pads so its best to get a new indicator wire when you change the pads.

    Default

A new sensor wire is under a tenner at a dealers and a doddle to fit, so might be worth trying that first.

P.s mine was a 52 plate and only had the near side one.
