new car smelling of burnt oil - 08 reg

Hi all, I have a new 08 exclusiv with an auto box, it arrived on Thursday with no miles on it. Since then I have clocked up 250 miles, however when I pull up at lights, round-about, etc a smell of burning oil/grease comes through the vents. I have checked the oil & it does not appear to be noticeably lower & it is using no more fuel than you would expect for a new car. There are no signs of any leaks and the smell disapears when you lift the bonnet. I think it may just be a running in burning off smell has anybody experienced a similar thing (Vauxhall or otherwise), thanks.

Mine done the same, its overspray of wax on the underside.

Take it to VX and they will clean it for you

Yeah, my new Corsa did the same for a few days when it was new.

Thanks for the reply I will be taking it in if I don't burn it off first as I have a 200 mile trip to do on Tuesday, thanks again.

Mine had 1500 miles on it before I took it in, and it was still stinking every time I came to a stop.

About the same maty, 1500-1800 miles and the smell had gone

Did you take it in markm or did it just go, & did it come through the vents, cheers.

Same here mate. Overspray of wax.. After 1500miles, it smells like a new car should. Thought my engine etc was faulty, but no. It' fine now. It was back at the stealers and they confirmed, just all the wax from build being burned / melted off.

mine was the same, about 1500k, then it disappeared, never bothered with the dealers.
