EGR valve replacement ? It isn’t that cheap

I would not advise use those additives. Most tests shown at the best those additives would not kill you engine (killed my EGR ones) but there is no performance gain (some test shows actually decrease in performance).

So keep feeding it with good range of food and keep it clean. Change oil and air filters regularly it would be better for the engine then any additives can do.

Redex Advanced is good. It's £15 from Halfords and is in a gold and green box. I noticed a difference in performance when i used the diesel one.

I think alex gives some good advise.

I have just started to use TOTAL EXCELLIUM Petrol (They do diesel too) which claims to have new advanced additives and also to increase your mileage per tank.

I'm always wary of such claims but over the last three weeks have been using it in my 1.8 VVT and so far with good results . I am getting 20 - 30 miles extra per half tank....Ie I was getting 150 - 160 miles per half tamk and now I'm getting 180 - 190 miles.

Now I know that isn't very scientific and petrol guages are far from accurate. but it is using the same car, driving style, journey to work and with no modifications to engine or tyre pressure.

In addition they claim the fuel is 97 RON which is also slightly higher...And the stuff costs the same a supermarket drivel.

    May be worth a try.

They have a website and claim it works on diesel too with reduced emmissions and increased cetane ratings.

I have used one or two additives in the past with varying results. The best I have used is Forte but it's only sold to the trade and it does work. Comma do a diy range and a professional range, go for the professional if you're going to try it.
Despite the cost of living it still seems popular!
