    Default Magnets to improve MPG?

Just watched the program on STV hosted by Quenton Willson about fuel savings.

Bassically it was an experiment on how to increase your mpg. Regular servicing, change driving styles, swtich to diesl/ultimate fuels and a set of magnets. All of these increased the mpg in some way.

I was interested in the magnet system that they tested, basically these can be bought from 'fleebay for around a £10 and supposedly dogive a better mpg, in the tv program it was an 8% increase.

Does anybody have any experiance of the magnets that they used? Do they really improve the mpg?

    Cheers

The Magnets theory was tested by Mythbusters on Discovery. Didn't make any difference in their tests though.

I remember these from way back, the idea is that you fit them to your fuel pipe and the magnets align the molecules in the fuel so that they flow better. They also used to claim that it increases power. The theory sounds promising but I didn't notice any difference.

They did also state on the program that they probably got better fuel consumption because they were conciously trying to drive more economically which is probably more true to the point.

If magnets actually worked they would be fitted as standard, so the official MPG figures would look better.

When I worked in a garage we had a customer fit some of these magnets to his V12 BMW he said that they made a fantastic improvement to his mpg, Next time the car came in for a service we had a look at these magic magnets, the customer had fitted them on the fuel tank vent pipes that went to the carbon canister under the bonnet. Just shows that its all in the mind.

they do work and they work very well but they need to be placed correctly. what you need to do is get a very very strong magnet fix it to your place of destination and just watch how it draws your car there as if by magic. and no fuel used what so ever only problem it tends to attract allsorts of other metals
