    Default Bye Bye Bearing

After we've known each other for over 80,000 miles - my F/N/S Wheel Bearing decided to collapse on me today

Off to the stealers tomorrow so see how much that costs me! :s

    oopss....

they are around £140 full retail (+vat) to buy.. patterns are avaliable cheaper from motor factors so it's worth a ring round...

Any decent garage will fit them for you.. as you're out of warranty it'll be just throwing money away to give it to VX to do....

Or, If you're good on the spanners, you can swap it yourself... it's not hard.. Plasma and I swapped BigPhil's front bearings on the camping feild at Billing last year....

She's off to a local independant soon - he's used by all the cabbies round here as he's reasonably priced but good at what he does.

Fingers crossed it doesn't cost me too much.

Should I be getting both front bearings done or just the one that's gone?

i just had to get one aswell, it cost me £210 fitted includng the dreaded, i was going to get a cheaper one but then i thought if there is one part i want to be good quality i thought the bearing/hub is worth paying that little bit more for.

I couldn't figure out what the noise was on mine - it just happened as I was driving down the road!

Fortunately, the Bro-in-Law is a coach mechanic so he came for a run round the block with me last night, jacked the wheel up off the ground and spun it by hand.

It doesn't sound pretty! It was grinding just spinning it by hand!

Nightmare, well when mine went i thought two of them had gone, front and rear drivers side. But when they checked they told me that it was just the front and the rear was the tyres. So i got some cheap crappy rear tyres whilst i wait for my Alloys
