    Default police help required

    as above...........

monday i was working in nottm city centre at an appartment block, came to the van outside, saw a police chase finish in a car park 100 yd's from me, big scuffle and then arrest.........

sat in the van having lunch about 10 15 mins later, a dodgy looking lad walk's past into the garage in front on us through access only gate's and re-appears 15 second's later with a bag in his hand ...eye balls me and moves the bag out of site, i looked at the bag and was certain it could have been a hand gun of some type...sat for a few mins trying to convince myself otherwise and my bro said we should tell the police in the car park if i was not 100% sure of what i saw......told them what i thought i saw and they took a few details, along with my name etc

went back there today and was accosted by a rather irate lad, (the one i saw) who said the police told him "I saw him with a gun" and he was fuming about it saying he was inocent and hard working ( i found this very hard to believe ) and at one point thought the RASIST card was going to appear, i think if it hadn't been for my size and the fact i was carrying a large crow bar it could have been worse...

what the hell happened to confidentuality do i complain about this or was it just pure luck he guessed it was me ??????

any help or advice realy appreciated on this matter as thinking of complaining about it to the police

    i aint a happy chap

Whilst I don't know.......I doubt very much that the police would have told him who identified him

Unless the officers were complete numpties (there are a few) there is no way that they would have made any indication they had spoken to you! Especially with the mention of a hand gun. The guy probably saw you at the time and has done some detective work of his own. If there weren't many other people about I would suggest it wouldn't have been hard for him to guess anyway. It is your right to complain to the police of course BUT I highly doubt any officer would compromise your identity!

    Hope this helps a bit.

If you contact the police and provide details of the incident etc, and request a call back, they will pass it on to the officers in the case and hopefully they will explain things to you.
It may be when the police have attended, they have stated a witness saw you etc as grounds for detaining/searching him.....and this person recalls you from the time of the incident.

You should get a reference number when you call and if you express your concern, someone will get back to you, so you can establish wether you have been actually cited as a witness etc.

    Regards

    Well, Im not surprised.
I reported a similar thing, Now the only diff with mine is that the person involved never saw me.

The day after the report, I had a visit from the said person at my home
So not only did the police give him my name , But also my address.
To say the least i was F-in Fummin.
So from now on , I am very very wary & always mention the incident when ever the police ask for your details !!!

Glencol, i think it actually about them NOT sharing intelligence and the local plod not knowing of the risk to them. I could be wrong though!
