    DAmn vgERG ;F GRogoREGBNbnbvbN NKN NGVNdnb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stupid call centres'
    Applied for a loan from these ppl,got an email to call them about insurance cover etc etc ,the rate on the money supermarket web site was 6.9.........after waiting 20mins to talk to someone i then get the third degree as to how am i going to pay if i fall ill have an accident etc etc ...have i got any life insurances etc etc ,how much will i get paid if i get made reduntant,how long would it take for me to get a new job etc etc .20 mins later after explaining i have all the bases covered etc etc ..i have a house i can sell that i dont live in ,so therefore loan is completely covered....he then proceeds to tell me i cant have the 6.9% but a 10.5% what the fuegvgkgkERHGH;ehgHBHBJRJegjIJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !.HE SAYS THATS WHAT THE UNDERWRITERS HAD QUOTED!!!!!.........so i then proceed to asked WTF was the last 20mins about then,ive proved i,m not a risk,so why didn,t you tell me at the beggining that you were going to make pay 10.5% and not wasted my time....i,m going to close my account with them that ive had for 30 odd years and take my £1.25p out .......rant over i think

    well hopefully the co op will see me differently .......just cked my credit rating and i,m marked down as EXCELLENT...so A&L can go jump.....BTW its not a car loan for me its one for the little missus....a new 08 corsa on the horizon,am going for the 1.4 design model ,half leather seats and not in that horrible pink cloth like the sxi has

    I know what you mean about call centres, i spend half my day on the phone to gas and elec companies about getting rental properties sorted for new tenants ect. they say one thing then do the other and theyre all the same - banks, insurance companies, gas, elec companies - then they boast that they have good customer service when clearly they dont!

    anyway mate hope you get sorted soon and i bet you wife cant wait to get her new motor, nice cars them new corsas and not much smaller than the astra.

    Soulman - exactly the same happened to me after being an A&L car loan customer since 1999. Last year they offered me some daft rate to renew when I was buying the wife's car and I went ape. I joined up with Experian to check my credit score because I was concerned and as I suspected it was A1.

    A&L obviously don't want good customers anymore and it's probably not just them - you may have heard about egg dumping good paying credit card customers recently - their CEO has just resigned after that fiasco.

    Incidentally, I got the "headline rate" at Northern Rock - just before they collapsed!

    As for the lecture on payment protection etc - that's just par for the course with any financial institution these days. It will stop though, the FSA are onto these lot about mis-selling.

    i just got a loan through them, i had the same sales talk, 20 minutes of hard sales for insurance, got away ... eventually... without any, but i still got 6.9%

    dont forget, these call handlers are also working on comission to 'sell' you the insurance cover...

    did hear ages ago, from a friend who works for halifax, that these "typical" rates offered were only available to so many people per day/ week on a quota basis, regardless if they had better than average credit scoring.

    obviously just a spratt to catch a mackerel, as most people when told the larger apr will just accept it, not being bothered to apply somewhere else.

    once you have closed your account the loan company will soon be back on the phone offering you the best deal going and i hope you tell them to stick it where the sun dont shine
