    Default Pilot Injection?

Anyone know what pilot injection is on the Dti engine, apparently it makes it quieter than the dti in vec b's, but how does it work?

Pilot injection is a system where there is a small pre-injection of fuel before the main delivery. It means that the flame spread period is lengthened and the ignition delay period is reduced. This reduces diesel knock (which is caused by the ignition delay period but heard in the flame spread period). Thus making the engine quieter. It is actually quite a complicated system. HTH

No, that's just hydraulic equipment full stop. The tolerences inside these sort of things are so critical therefore they cost a bit to manufacture. I recently changed a hydraulic pump on a Marini road paving machine, it was the size of half a brick and it cost.............................................. ..£2485
