Default BK999's with OEM centre caps

Hello all! Recently I got a set of BK999's (18') to replace my standard SRi rims

As I am after OEM look, I didn't like the centre caps that fit in BK999's.
I wanted the ones used in the VXR rims but as many of you correctly advised me, they don't fit.

However I took the risk to mod a set of centre caps so they do fit

Pic 1. BK999 original cap (without any sticker)

Pic 2. I took out the 5 lugs you see here in every cap to make them fit

After taking off the lugs, the cap was able to fit but it didn't lock into position. With a tiny vibration the cap would pop out.

Initially I added a smaller inner ring in the back of the caps but the caps still didn't lock into place.

My final option was bonding. Since I will keep these for a long time (I hope) I got a tube of Bisonite heavy duty bonding glue and after a very careful application....voila!!!

    Pic 3. A BK999 18'' rim with OEM caps

    Pic 4. A closer look.

I left them to dry (24hours required for the bonding stuff) as I am waiting for new tyres and the VXR (OPC) bodykit.

I am very happy with the results and hope the bonding will last

PS. I was in love with the VXR rims but due to poor road conditions here in Greece, 18'' is the higher you can go (unless you change rims every other day...)

    Cheers!

Nice touch, but how will you have the wheels and tyres balanced? all the machines i've seen use the centre hole.

personaly i would have used clear mastic to fix the centre cap's with, easier to remove when balancing is needed.......but i like the look mate, nice one for having a go

I have balanced the wheels twice since then,
they come out easily - I didn't 'soak' the caps in glue
