    Default more pulling power

Hi to all, quite new here have been reading with great interest over the past 4 months.

Modified my fog lamps so both work, just now looking to increase my torque as i tow a caravan and could always need just that bit more ooompf.

I have a 2.2sri dti vec c 53 plate and you 1.9`s have more power than me. Not fair. Dont want nothing to drastic or noisy as i am a middle aged man with 2 kids and a inquisitive wife.

You all mention power boxes or remapping could someone be kind enough as to explain in simple English what this involves.

What sort of power gain, and price and where do you get these gadgets from?

    thanks Graham

Check out the approved traders mate. Diagnostix UK are sponsors of the diesel tuning section. Their website is www.dieseltuner.co.uk

Thanks for that AJA has anybody used these products and are they straight forward in fitting. Also what about reliability and also what happens to the warranty on the car? Do you need to tell your insurance company?

I was one of the first mate. It's turned my CDti 150 upto 193.4bhp. I can't recommend them enough. There's absolutely loads of members on here now with these boxes and others.

your 2.2dti engine is not easy to fit as the CDti's but still reasonably easy. Mike at Diagnostix UK is a member on here; his username is 'Diagnostix'. Send hima PM mate as there's a massive discount for any member on here.

Hi Graham and welcome to the forum,
Yes you must tell your insurance company...or else you give them a really easy way of wriggling out of paying up.
I know if it's a car-park knock they'll never find out, but I'm talking about the nightmare scenario...
e.g. you knock someone down....injure someone (maybe permanently) - Police impound your car, insurance inspectors examine it in detail. Insurance finds the mods, refuses to pay-out.....and (I said it was a nightmare!) the injured party then sues you personally for half a million or more - you could lose your house!!!
I believe the insurance companies don't always charge extra for modified cars.
Warranty.......I'm not so sure. I suppose you could take off the mod if you need to take it in.

Thanks for your comments, are there any 2.2 dti owners on here that have had the upgrade from diesel tuner, that can tell me how they feel the car has improved in performance, and fuel consumption?

    thanks Graham

You know what, I'm not sure anyone on here has fitted one to a 2.2DTi. If you can travel over to Diesel Tuner and try a box before you buy.

    more pulling power
I was about to say buy a Ferrari but wrong kind of 'pulling' power!

A few options out there for you mate. Don't think Tuning Boxes are an option though but prove me wrong. Few companies out there can help

Sell it for the 1.9 So much quieter, smoother and all round better engine! We have a 2.2 Diesel in the company, and mine is just a million times better.

    Hi guys,

Just curious to find out what Insurance companies you guys are with who are willing to insure the tunning boxes.

I had my old 2.6 GSi Superchipped (after Admiral quoted £60 increase to the premium). Admiral backed down when I got it done saying it was a mistake as they don't insure any mods! I had to get it de-installed within 7 days or my car wasn't insured!

    Cheers folks.
    Grant.
