    Default Woe is VW!

Rumour has it that VW have told dealers that cam belt changes now have to be done at 40,000m. They are also scrapping the long life servicing scedule. Apparently their engines are going pop on a regular basis.

If only everything in life was as reliable as a .....Vectra!

This has happened to Vx before now with the Ecotec 1.6 and 1.8 cambelt change intervals and I can see the same going for the Eco flex servicing too. Its a great gimmick to fleet operators who purchase the cars with running costs at the fore - but in one blow it removes the whole benefit in favour of it's rivals.

    Yep

I remember getting stung for £400 to change a cambelt on my 1.8 ecotec Vec B a few years ago at the 2nd service.

Vx have changed to 40K miles, you need yours done, you are not covered, Vx will not contribute any money to fix any damage, we have told you and now have it on file etc. etc...

The Z20LET in the turbo Astra had a 40K recommended change, but they reckon 30K is a better bet as so many have gone pop.
