Well I had the car in for its second service today, 1.9 CDTi 150, cost of £267, which considering I cant figure out what they did over and above the first service (£140) seems like a ripp off.
Anyways, last Friday the car became poorly It is seriously lacking in revs low down, but when the turbo spools up you are off. In my opinion the car is dangerous to drive like this as tying to get away at junctions becomes a real art form. Not to worry it was booked so I phoned the dealer with the symptons so they knew what to expect.
Dropped it off at 9am and by 10am had a phone call asking me if wanted all sorts of extra doing, like rear brake pads, with are 60% worn and indicator bulbs at £10 each that are showing a little white light rather than orange. Never mind all that I asked, how about fixing it first so it actaully drives in the first place. "Oh were looking into that"
Next phone call at 1pm. "Your car is ready". "oh good have you fixed it?", "Fixed it?" came the reply. "Yes fixed the lack of power at low revs?", "Oh we cant do that because its the EGR valve and there are none in stock. We have done a temporary repair that will do until we can get it back in again". "okay no problem" I said.
Picked the car up at 4pm today, drove 200yards in a big arc right back into the dealers. Its absoulutely no different.
So I asked what repair have they done as it isnt any different. "Oh its a temporary repair" they replied. "No you dont seem to understand, the car is dangerous and cant be driven safely, I'm not happy, what repair in exact detail have you done?" "oh I cant say, its authourised by Vauxhall though, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt". "Well it hasnt worked this time, so as the isnt safe to drive, can I have a replacement car until mine is repaired please". " We cant do that. we four like it the moment and they have all chosen to drive their cars". When can I get it back in? "April is when we should have them in stock, but we gaurantee"!!!!
Gob smacked, I left after telling them how dissapointed I am, and that I will make a formal complaint.
Sorry to witter on but I'm soo angry that they tried to fob me off for doing what seems to me, abosuletly nothing. Its the first time I've been really cheesed of with this dealer, but their patronising attitude really finished off for me.
So, are they telling porkies, are there really no EGR valves in the country and do I have to wait three weeks before it can be repaired?
Also does anyone have a telephone number for Vauxhall complaints and JCT600 complaints?
