Theres a button on the keyboard marked PrtScn i believe.. it copies the contents of the screen to the clipboard which u can then paste into your favourite program.

Search through the all programs list - from memory it's in the tools section somewhere (don't have a Vista machine to hand at the moment).

For XP I use a freeware program called MWSnap (http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html) which has been very useful.

Press Print screen button, open up MS Paint, and do Edit -> paste

Cut out what you want to the clipboard, then go file -> new, click no to save, then do Edit -> paste.

When you do a "Save As..." choose JPEG

If you press ALT and PrtScn together, you only copy the active window and not the whole visible area. (That's if the currently active window is not maximised of course)
