    Default Weak Radio Signal!

This has been annoying me for over a year now (considoring I've only owned the car 14 months!)

Basicly, the standard CD30 (I think) headunit was fine, but as always, I removed and replaced with a motorised tv/dvd player tuner unit. This works fine, apart from having a week radio signal. Its constantly trying to search for a better signal and ends up loosing what it originally had....somethings while the car is stationary!!!

Now, I'm sure its not the car, as it did the same on my old Vec C.

I have also tried another manufacture of headunit, and its the same. And to top it off, both units did the same in an 03 Plate VW Passat.

Could it be a simple 'Signal Booster' required, if they exist?

    Regards,

    Chris

Is it a headunit of eBay - you know, imported from hong kong? I have had one in the past and the signal was horrific.

Nope, both are UK spec (Kenwood & Sony) purchased from Halfords.

I also changed the head unit & signal dropped.
What it could be, I changed my aerial for the 'shark fin' style functional one.
When I had headlining down, there is a power feed to the aerial base. I connected this to my new aerial, but still have weak signal.

I think that the original head unit must send a feed to the aerial.
When the weather improves & I get chance, I will try to put a seperate feed to it to see if it improves.

This may be something to look at

I swapped out my CDR2005 (with a pretty poor reception to be honest) with my Panasonic MP3 unit.

I noticed the signal seemed to drift away a lot more - so I tape the aerial connector to the back of the HU - to keep a nice tight connection and it cured the problem.

Although the aerial cable didn't require an adaptor, it never felt as tight as on the mounting cage of the CDR2005 - taping it up tight must have removed some of the 'give' and no problems now!
