    Best thing to do is e-mail Goodyear, get the confirmation, then go back to the dealers, if no joy, then report it back to Goodyear and involve trading standards.

    Unfortunately I binned the e-mail I had some time ago, but I distinctly remember the Thai made ones shouldn't be here.

    found a pertinent thread on another forum thats worth a read;
    http://www.civinfo.com/forum/wheels-...odyear-f1.html

    Worth nothing though that this thread is about a year old. My mate has confirmed that he does have the (E13) and a 7 digit number after them but they do squeal a lot.

    Ok Update. My mate rang the Goodyear technical helpline. They confirmed that tyres made for this market are produced in china or Germany only. Thailand versions although are legal will perform badly in wet or cold conditions. They advised getting the garage to change them or to speak to trading standards if the garage wont do anything.

    Hope this info helps.

    Perhaps this thread should be made a sticky as its relating to safety?

    From memory, and the other thread(s) that touched on this, it's not down to inferior quality - it's the fact that the Thai compound is meant for warmer climates and when used in the UK/cooler climates simply gets nowhere near operating temperature so are skittery to say the least!

    My memory did serve me well. - post from the original thread...

    Thread also now made sticky as it's a useful one for people to see and to be safe!

    ok so here's the last update. After chasing the garage, they spoke to the suppliers who said they bought direct from goodyear! Ringing this info back to goodyear, they wanted proof in the form of the order number. My mate passed this on to the garage but didnt hear anything for about a week. After chasing them the garage admitted that their suppliers must be stalling so were probably lying and thus agreed to replace all of his tyres f.o.c.
    All well that ends well

    hi all
    after reading this thread and realising that i had brought 4 new goodyyear F1 tyres about 6 months ago on my vecta b GSI that i dont use that often
    went out and checked the tyres and oh no they are the Thailand versions so i fired off a email to goodyear to confirm the problem which they did pronto (well impressed with that) and then contacted the the tyre dealership and i was again shocked they contacted there supplier who then bent over and booked my car in today for 4 new tyres. this makes me wonder if the supplier knows that they shouldnt be supplying these tyres in the uk.
    i always thought the tyres fitted to my car were crap as my old gsi was fitted with F1 tyres and they were fantastic these Thailand versions are total crap and in the wet the car is all over the place. the question is why would goodyear supply tyres made for a diffrent country to uk suppliers that dosnt make any sense.
    well im getting my tyres changed and im happy lol
