    Default Front knocking sound

    Hey dudes,

well i now have a new noise....At first i thought it was the suspension but i've came to the conclusion that it cant be.

When i come to a complete stop and go to move off i hear a knocking sound. It only happens on the initial acceleration. I'm beginning to hear it more and more. I have thought it maybe could be the engine mounts but i'm thinking worst case, as usuall and i'm scared that its something to do with the drivetrain as i only really hear it when the car starts to pull.

    Please help

Does sound like a mount to me.

Have you taken a look at them?

Simple check 1st, empty the glovebox and the boot of contents and check the bike wheel is secure.

Look under the seats also for old rubbish like a bottle etc, I've had this in the cab before and it turned out to be a Smirnoff Ice bottle, empty a'nall

The general one for this is the radiator mounts.

I have two really annoying knocks on mine, one I have been told is worn anti roll bar rubbers which apparently are expensive to change???
The other the garage can never find!!!

Interesting to hear that it can be the radiator mounts, I will check that, although you cannot get your hands anywhere near it...unless you have REALLY small hands!

The anti roll bar rubber mounts are not expensive, only a couple of quid each. I replaced my radiator mounts first, took it for a test drive and the crunching noise was still there (when going over speed bumps), I then changed the anti roll bar rubbers and that sorted the problems. I would replace the anti roll bar rubbers first as the radiator mounts are £11 each and you need two of them.

Glad you got it sorted mate but Can you give me any clues how to change the rubbers mate??
As said before but...the noise isn't specifically when going over speed bumps (or the like) it seems to be when moving off from stationary?
I'll get a good listen on the way home again anyway.
    Pics would be brill.

    I had this problem!

It was a loose bolt on the end of the wishbone arm!!

it was the bolt on the circular rubber barrel end.Simply tightened it up.

    Hope that makes sence?

Could also be suspension top mounts loose/ worn.

Take it to an ATS or similar to check for the worn / loose mounts. It should be a free check.

hey guysI have a similar knocking noise - have been told by my Holden dealer that it is normal and ABS related. Mine only happens when the car is cold or not driven for a few hours, and only when in drive, not reverse.
