    Default Losing water?

I have noticed my car loosing a lot of coolant.

The header tank is empty after a week or so, needing to be topped back up to the mark.

I have checked the oil and its seems ok - so not the haed gasket , thankfully.

Any other pointers where to look?

Just have a good look round all the coolant hose joints, if there has been any leaks it should be obvious enough to spot, even if it dries up it leaves a residue.
If you still can’t find it and you suspect a hose then have the system pressure tested.
You could also double check the front carpets, make sure their not wet, as this can be easily missed if you have mats fitted but you usually smell it strongly in the car if the heater matrix goes.
If you have an auto, then check the gearbox oil, if it looks like strawberry milkshake then you have a problem !

ive heard that water in the oil is not always a sign of the head gasket, because there can be water to air, check your compression. some of the mechanics on here will prob advise you better im just going on what i was told with my last car.think another way of checking is when you do have water in your expansion tank take cap off and rev it to 2500 rpm and look for air bubbling in your expansion tank.

    Default radiator leak

just looked at the radiator for sign of leaks, and its steaming?

Is this normal, or is there a leak in the rad?

id say if theres no rain or water dripping onto it then id say steam would be a sign of a radiator leak, which is a good sign really cuz you now know its not the engine.

If its a leaky heater matrix, you may notice your eyes sting after driving for a while.

    Still not solved it>

Replace the header tank and the cap - still loosing water. Also after the run home today approx 35 miles the temp guage dropped to the bottom of the guage, and didn't rise again?

    Any more help?

I did notice down near the power steering rack - there is a drip of water, that is sometimes a steady flow when the A/C is on? Is this just overflow from the A/C system?

OIL is still as clean as the day it went in no sludge
