They reckon the earlier model like yours is better for tuning than the facelift version.
Had problems with mine with a box on, but know of others with the V6 and a tuning box with no problems.
Had mine remapped, and got results of 207 bhp and 299 lb/ft at the rolling road. Tuning boxes can get it up nearer 220 bhp.

Would recommend doing the airbox mod and fitting a k&n filter.

Anyway to the site, cracking motor you've chosen and you're on the best site for ideas on modding. Get ready for a wallet bashing!!!

A remap will always be better and safer. It'll cost more, but worth it.
A few peeps have had a remap for the 3.0 done at Torquing BHP at Cambridge.....worth a look...

Tuning boxes - can find them on here in the for sale section eg
    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35964
and ebay or just google it dtuk and the spider box is supposed to be good although more expensive.
I agree with V6CDTi the remap is the safer route after the problems I've had with mine.
Re-maps - I nearly took mine to a place in Cambridge called Tourqing BHP which some members on here have used for the V6 and are pleased with the results, but found a place oop north nearer to home.

Beware of problems with high pressure fuel pump when boxing or remapping. So expensive it'll make you cry!

Went into limp mode too many times when I had CRD box on mine, even on lowest setting!

K&N with airbox mod have been fine so far with noticable improvement.

We can offer you a remap for you car and a few members here have been very happy with the results

A dump valve is a waste of time on a diesel as they dont have a throttle flap and if fitted can cause issues with the engine management system. I would not recommend any form of plug in device as these will only raise fuel pressure and shorten the injection systems life.

    Hope this helps

Trust me.. a proper remap from 'torquing BHP' is MUCH better for your car than any tuning box.... a tuning box is an electronic 'con' just fooling the highpressure fuel pump to work harder ( and they're fragile enough on the CDTi's..)

a remap looks at far more than just fuel rail pressure..

A recirculating dump valve can very effective and benificial on the 1.9CDTI. Because of the very high boost pressure, when you dump the clutch to change gear the pressure backs up through the turbo stalling it and causes the pick up to be slow when changing gear. Don't know if the 3ltr suffers from the same effect.

Didn't Harry get his remapped at Torquing BHP? It was a bit smokey...
