Default pippercams / fast road cams.

Been looking into these for a while now but beleive will have to get the car mapped to run them. Am I correct or can I just fit and away I go?
Looking at 270 deg inlet and exhaust.

I'm no expert on that, but I'd have thought as you're basically altering the timing of everything then you'll need to reflect that in the engine software, otherwise it'll run like a bag of bones or even cause damage?

Also depending on the lift uprated valve springs and on some engines machining the head to take the springs.

Never played with a Vectra engine so I don't know how the valve timing is set but the valve timing on any engine is critical. I once put too hairy a cam in a race engine, it was a carb engine and the cam was for the fuel injected version. Finally managed to get the valve timing set for it to run with a vernier cam wheel but the valve overlap was so hairy it used to spit fuel and flames out of the carbs on tickover.

I think its unlikely anyone would sell something that hairy for road use but the wilder the cam you go for, the less tractibility in normal use would be the result. I would agree you will probably need a remap as the fuelling would need to be changed to cope with the increased valve opening times and to get the benefit of the increased overlap.

I fitted a piper mild rally cam years ago in a carb'd car and just turned the dizzy cap with a flash gun to get the best timing.

You need advice off GSI 3.2 for this mate, however as steel siad its worth while to change the valve springs and buckets etc to make it work well with the cam.
