    Default Spray paint

Finished painting my new (well, 2nd hand) spoiler yesterday and rubbed it down and touched it up today. I'm not great at spraying and even after rubbing down it still shows a few spray marks and bit of overspray. I'm reluctant to rub it down tooo much in case I go down to the primer. When I lacquer it, will the imperfect spray show through or will a few decent coats of lacquer sort it all out?

    Great, thanks for the help.

The instructions tell me to rub down the final base coat before applying the clear coat. Do you recommend this?

no mate never rub down basecoat or top coat will show flatting lines
by all mean rub it down and re apply base coat but if you flat your base coat then dont use p2000 basecoat is far to soft (the lighter the colour the better the prep must be ie. silver is the worst to do, black the easiest

    Sorry mate, got slightly confused.

Just to check, this is what I understand I have to do:

    1. Several coats of primer
    2. Rub down with 1200 wet and dry then wash
    3. When dry, several coats of vx black sapphire as you instructed in your 2nd post.
    4. Rub down with 1200 wet and dry
    5. Several coats of clear lacquer (1st being a light coating from further away)
    6. Leave a couple of weeks and finish with rubbing compound.

Is this correct? I'm confused about step 4 as a couple of people have said not to rub down before the lacquer, but on the tin it says it's needed.

    1. rub down spoiler p800 then clean
    2. 2 coats of primer
    3. leave primer to dry over night
    4. rub down primer with p800 then clean(can finish with p1200 is you wish)
    5. clean and dry then use tack cloth to remove all dust
    6. rwo coat of black sapphire leave to dry between coats(approx 5 mins)
    7. light coat of black sapphire from further away leave to dry (10 mins)
    8. DO NOT FLAT
    9. lightly go over with tack cloth
    10. several coats of laquer(first being half a coat for next coat to grip to)
11.leave a couple of week to set fully
    12. flat lighty with p2000 to remove any imperfections(stay clear of edges)
    13. polish with rubbing compound like g3(not t-cut)
    14. polish job done
