    Default Virus Protection

My Virus protection expires in 7 days, before I renew it I wanted to check if there's anything better than what I'm currently using.

At the moment I use McAfee Internet Security Suite, which comes with VirusScan, Firewall, Privacy Service and Spamkiller.

and the renewal price is £50 which I think is a bit steep.

What do you guys use, and is there anything you would recommend ?

Do not buy the software. you can download these free of charge from the internet and also allow for updates foc as well. I have one and its worked ok to date.

The problem with some of the bought anti virus programs is that they can be rendered ineffective in a short period of time, unless you get regular updates that can some times cost money.

I'm not a big fan of norton. I removed it just over a year ago and cringe at the sight of it. Although it is currently one of the best out there.

I found that it used to overlook things that a free program "Ad-aware" would pick up. and once it was logged there, norton would suddenly wake up and say "heh, we found something"

I've used Panda aswell which was pants, I paid £7 for it tho, so you obviously get what you pay for.

My dads a big fan of Trend PC-Cillin, but I havent heard much from them recently.

I use norton for firewall and antivirus, and supplement it with Windows Anti Spyware, which is better than Adaware at picking out spyware.

where can I download from, NTL offer a free NetGuard software, I have it on my PC and it seems to work ok. But my Works Laptop came with McAfee and I just renewed it last year.

Also I though upgrades are normally free for a year after purchasing the software initially.

    look what I just found

    McAfee Internet Security 2006 v8 OEM @ £7
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=322785

Norton Internet Security 2006 OEM 1 Year @£20
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=310766

    Bullguard 12 Months (AntiVirus - Firewall - Spamfilter - Backup) - OEM @ £8
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=264749

All of these are OEM versions, but dont necesarily need to be bought with other hardware. Only difference is, they come CD ONLY and you dont get box, manuals etc. But who cares, manuals are on-line anyway.

I use this site alot, its brilliant for all your computer stuff, reliable and good prices. staff are very helpful
