Its probably a hose returning crankcase gasses back to the intake to be burnt. All part of the emmisions control. (I think)
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

On my 2.2 i've gone one step further and put a catch tank on a similar pipe and iit's caused no problems at all, those filters are on ebay for 5 quid, just remember to block the stub on the throttle body.

Whats the cons for doing this on Veccy? Any performance improvment? Or is it just for keeping your idle valve clean?

With your car, it won't make a big difference but for possibly giving a slight performance increase, due to the hot gases not going back into the engine.

If you put a filter on it and leave it in the engine bay, you may find that you end up with oil mist in the cabin when stationary.

On turbo cars, this oil mist goes back in before the turbo and erodes the turbine blades. Best thing to do is either put a catch tank on it as stated or, get a hose and feed it all the way to the back of the car by the exhaust and put a filter on it there. You may find it drips oil though.
