    Default Vectra cat converter failed

My 2003 vectra 2.2 cdzc, was running awesome until last servicing a couple of months back. One day the emission light came and I took car to the dealership servicing and they said its nothing and reset the code. Happened again and they did the same things, real problem started a couple of days afterwards when I was returning home from work, the car started in limp mode seems misfiring. I took to the servicing again and they gave me a diagnostic report next day which suggest the catalytic converter is failed and they found it in pieces and burning red hot and it will cost me a large amount of money to fix it nearly AU$4000. I took my car to a private exhaust guy and a mechanic he checked everything and said car misfiring and checked the spark plugs, one of them was faulty and and was supposed to be replaced on my last servcing but wasn't changed which dealership explained as they visually inspected it and was good. The exhaust guy afterwards opened the cat and found it in pieces (images attched) with both of oxy sensors burnt. I asked the dealership servicing about their negligance they said its not their fault as the cat failed which made the other parts of engine to fail (e.g plugs and oxy sensors). Now I am totally a non-technical person and 'm in middle of an argument with the dealership and the private mechanics one blaming the dealership negligance and the other one saying the cat failed itself. As far on my end I have gone through all the regular servicing and repairs from the dealership servicing and was using good fuel, atleast 95, where do I stand in here. Any suggestion, help or explanation? will help me more than anything.

It may have failed due to the oxy sensor being faulty and adding too much fuel into the mix. Unburnt fuel igniting in the cat destroying it. The nackered plug may have been causing fuel to enter the cat also. I doubt the cat failing would cause the sensors to fail imo. I would have thought new oxy sensors, new plugs and a new cat would fix it. But $4000 aussie dollars sounds a lot!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Thanks for the replies,
If oxy-sensor is to blame then it'll be a bit unlucky for me as the oxy-sensor faults are handles with the engine fault code system of this vehicle.
