Default Update time. The woes continue.

Just thought I'd update you all on the state of play with my dead Signum.

The gearbox oil cooler has failed, dumped coolant into the gearbox and destroyed it.
Now we all know this is a common fault but for the newer members on here let me just point something out.
This happened to me 17 months ago and it was all replaced. Yep, it's gone AGAIN FFS!

Now, the car is out of warranty, I have a third party warranty but that only covers me to a max claim of £2500.
Hutchins want £3.5k for a recon box, fitted so that means I have to find £1k to get the car back IF the warranty company pay the full £2.5k. I had agreed a P/X deal on my car so to say I am unhappy about forking out to P/X the car is an understatement.

So, 2 weeks without a car and getting fed up with this, I rang GM customer care who told me that my dealer should be doing this using the dealer line. I refer it back to Hutchins who "left a message on their answerphone as they didn't answer and are waiting for a return call"

    Getting totally despondant now, so I contacted Trading Standards as there's no way an auto box should fail in 17 months/40k miles. They were quite helpful and advised me of the following;

"Under the supply of goods and services act Hutchins should have used reasonable care and skill in replacing the gearbox".
As the fault has re-occurred this is not the case and I should expect Hutchins to carry out remedial action FOC or I may claim damages and costs of repairs against Hutchins.

That gives me some hope I suppose. If I have not heard from them by Monday lunchtime, I will be down there and handing the letter to the service manager personally.

I am one p!55ed off bunny at the moment.

Feel for you but I'm not shocked

Maybe if we all put flyers saying 'VX customer care sucks' on our cars they might get the idea?

But to fail after 17 months with the same fault? Tells me that they fitted faulty parts IMHO.

I wonder how they think the average bloke in the street can find £1000 to repair a car that has a known fault on a unit already replaced. It's a Signum FFS. Not a fragile modded EVO.

Feel for you mate. Only thing I can think of is to go ballistic at VX and the dealers now.

Never mind finding £1k, imagine having to try and find £3.5k to repair a 3 and a half year old car that's only worth £5k tops!!

Do VX customer care work for Ford? by the sound of it you would think they did, because they will drive VX customers away from buying a Vauxhall again.

Sounds to me like cars are becoming more and more 'disposable'

What do you think the chances of me EVER buying another Vx are? It's working.
