Getting my new car next week - 53 plate 3.2 V6 GSi.
Is there anything i need to keep an eye or two on, besides the fuel gauge.
Bought from Evans Halshaw in Leeds.

What mileage? Depending on mileage, I'd ask when it last had a cambelt change. If it's around the mileage of needing one, I'd make it a condition of the sale that it has one done. That'd be the main thing for me. Is it auto or manual? If auto, then some other things to check too.

thanks duncan. its done about 28k aboout 4 years old. when is cambelt due as one mate told me 80k/8 years but another said 40k/4 years.
its manual g/box but has twin elec towbar fitted so was worried about clutch worn due to caravan towing.

If it's only done 28K then a little while before you have to worry about the cambelt then. I think Vx schedule says 80K, but if I had an engine with a cambelt I'd never leave it in that long - asking for disaster. I know another GSi owner (GSi3.2) would also agree. Somewhere between 40-50K I'd be looking to change it if it was mine.

Re the towbar and your concern. Given the really low mileage for it's age, I wouldn't think it's a concern if it has done a bit of towing. The 3.2 is a robust ol' engine and 28K is nothing for it. Just give it regular oil changes and servicing and it'll see you well for many more miles.

next question what cheep mods do u recommend. will do air box mod when car arrives, but what else does anyone recommend

Just what he said..... it's a tough motor..don't worry too much about the towing either..

over service it every 10,000 miles...change the belt every 40,000 miles and it'll run to 200,000 miles easily...
