    Default lamda sensor how 2?

    Hi all

My exhaust gases light came on tonight, and i believe the first option is to change the lamda sensor.

Is there a how 2 on here? if not any advice will be welcome.

    Cheers

    Woodsta

If it's the same as the Vec B, it's a piece of cake. It will be screwed into the exhaust, just after the downpipe. Just a big spanner needed to unscrew it and then trace the cable back. The only difficult part is getting under the car in the first place (I'm lucky as my grandparents have an inspection pit which I use).

Of course, if the Vec C is different then this is of no use at all so sorry but I'm no help! Now if they'd hurry up and release that ****** Haynes manual...

Before you start buying and replacing parts - especially expensive one - the first thing I'd do is disconnect the battery for a bit and reset the light. Sometimes the warning light can be triggered when there's no real problem or faulty part - often if it's cold outside, resulting in the emissions to just for a moment be out of the expected range.

If you do that and the light doesn't come back on again then nothing to worry about.

    Hi

I disconnected the battery for a good hour, the car and spanner went out but the exhaust gases light stays on?

Oh god, how much is the sensor then? difficult job?

VX cant fit me in till friday.

I might try the other VX dealers to see if they can fit me in for tech 2.

If not im in the works astra van for a while

Lamda's, from memory, are nudging the £100 point I think - maybe a little less. They're not cheap for sure. Easy to fit generally (not sure on the 3.2 specifically as I don't know if it's a begger to get access to it) - just not a cheap part.

If the light is only on steady, then that's okay. If it starts flashing then that's not okay - you need to stop driving it or you're in danger of wrecking the cat.

Best to get a Tech 2 to see what's being thrown up.

    Hi Duncan

I will wait for friday for the tech 2 at my local VX, they know my car very well. And i half trust them.

I will have a quick look at it tomorrow, you never know it may be a poor connection or something silly?

    Fingers and everything else crossed!!!!!

    Cheers Mate.

Yep I would get it checked out first. Too.
If I am correct I am sure there are Four on the 3.2.
    Mark will put us right.
