    Default Biodiesel available in Wigan, Wigan Pier 24h

    This was posted on a message board at work.... not sure if its any good for you desilites
    Priced at 95.9 p a litre I'm trying out Biodiesel from the above garage which is open 24h just before the ambulance station. It says you have to check your car's compatibility, and a fuel filter change is advised after the first fill due to the fact the bio fuel usually loosens regular fuel deposits.

    It looks OK to me (not brown and gunky) and I'll report back here any significant MPG differences or any problems. I am using Citroen diesel engines FWIW.

    It's not 10p, but it's not over a quid either.

    Rearange into a well known phrase or saying;

    Bargepole, touch, with, a, don't, it.

    It isn't the best for common rail diesel engines, can seriously cause problems with HP pumps, not to mention the injectors themselves.

    When it says biodiesel, do you know what it actually is??

    Is it 100% seed oil derived, or a blend with normal diesel fuel? Ie B20 would be 20% seed oil, and 80% regular diesel.

    Seed oil is not good for high pressure systems, But when mixed to B20 levels, the risks are clearly much lower. I don't think VX have signed off on this though.

    Wouldnt touch it - a bloke who used to live next door to the folks had a BMW 530d and he liked to think he was 'green' so he used Bio Diesel in it....

    bit of a mistake.....

    £4000 for new injectors, tank, fuel lines, fuel pump and the labour costs to fit it all, then the £60 odd to fill it up again with 'real' diesel!

    Bio up to 100% is fine in a DTi. CDTi is only rated to 5% bio.

    As for being cheaper, it's usually only 10-15p a litre cheaper than dino-diesel over here.

    Nope - not in the slightest..... but then I stick to what I know ( petrol ).

    I'll post a link to this thread on Monday on the BBS for him..... although I have to say I thought bio was only suitable for cars like the SABB which is setup for it in the first place.
