The AA guy who dragged my poorly Vec home (1 spring snapped) said broken springs were the 2nd most common reason for a two home (first being misfuelling)

Then he said Vauxhalls were the worst offenders but only just as it seemed a pretty common fault all round.

    Speed bumps and crap roads?

Haven't had any myself on my veccy but had both front springs on my last car (mondeo) broken when i took it in for an mot, didn't know nothing about,so you could be right GW,its across the board with most cars and yes probably due to crap roads and speed bumps.........

    New springs being ordered asap........

Not had anything on my Vec C touch wood (*touches fake wood desk* hope that counts) but snapped one on my Vec B. Heard one hell of a bang, found a bit of metal on the ground but thought it was part of the exhaust pipe mounting. Drove it for weeks before someone at VX told me that my spring was resting on the axle...

Drove 30miles to work, Parked car, went back 8 hours later and yes front wing drivers side sitting on wheel. Great, phone AA two hours later car picked up and transported back to work and left in the middle of the car park. Work can sort out the car themselves. Got home 1/2 hour ago and reading the forum it's a normal sigma problem broken coil. What a list for this car - crunch on every large bump from the front, vibrating exhaust when pulling away, wheel inbalance at all speeds, back end feels loose at high speed into corners, brakes fade when used hard, crap lights, car vibrates which can be felt through the dash, car left for long periods on an incline causes the fuel to be staved from the engine thus does not start, plus more but just can not be bothered to list.
Dealer checked this car 6 months ago and found no problems, wonderful vauxhall NOT, will never buy again.

    So add me to list.

Just got mine back after the 'fun'

New spring installed and new tyre sourced to match the nearly new one on the NSF.

From the look of it the spring is in excellent condition, simply sheared off the last 4 inches or so of the bottom.

Now I await the next break with great trepidation....

I also await Vx's reply to this with no great anticipation!
