Close call...

Driving home tonight in my 2004 60k Vec I noticed a bit of smoke and a strange smell as I drove along at around 30mph. After a couple of hundred yards I thought I'd better stop and check.

Stopped, looked around the car and all looked OK until seconds later BANG the front type burst. (Scared the wits out of a passer by!) After taking off the wheel I saw the spring had snapped and obviously rubbed then burst the front tyre.

So I came home on a AA wagon tonight, no car for 3 days and probably a hefty bill for new tyre and suspension. ******!

Could have been worse though - if that had happened at 70mph!!

Funny thing is, the car didn't actually feel any different, I would have thought the steering would have wandered or felt heavier?

Think i'm going to persuade the missus to replace the springs as i dont want that happening to me or the missus with the little one in the car,glad your ok and stopped in time...............

I am getting so worried about this issue - its cropping up again and again.
