    Default Stainless exhaust for GSi?

As the title suggests, I would like to know whether anyone on here has found a decent stainless steel exhaust system for a petrol V6 Vectra in or near Hertfordshire? The nearside back box of mine shed its outer skin a couple of weeks ago, so it's just a matter of time until the inner skin goes as well.

Now, I want an exhaust that looks nice but is quiet and understated . The GSi is such a fantastic mile-eater that I would not want to spoil it, to be honest. A tiny bit more noise would be acceptable. But the balance now - nice and quiet most of the time and a nice subdued roar when going for it - is right for me.

I refuse to pay the stupid money that VX want for a replacement cat-back system. Who are they kidding?

I had a bad experience with a Powerflow outlet with my previous car - an Omega Elite. I told them nice and quiet... What did I get? You guessed it! At least it was much cheaper than a VX exhaust. Plus the quality was somewhat lacking, IMHO.

If necessary, I'd travel further afield. I have been looking on here and MIJ Performance seem to have a good reputation. Does anybody produce systems off-the-shelf?

I love my GSi to bits and really want to keep it, so want a decent exhaust that I can live with and looks nice. If any of you can steer me in that direction, then I can (try to ) be ready when my original system bites the dust.

    Cheers.

Can't go wrong with MIJ, you'll get what you ask for

Milltek might do something for the V6, somebody that knows will be along soon...

Anybody on here fitted one? Got any pictures of one under a car? How does it sound? I thought Magnex were noisy exhausts but am prepared to be wrong!

    Yes.

To be fair, they did "try" to rectify the noisiness but it didn't really work. It ruined the car, in my view, because it was such a quiet, refined cruiser. Afterwards, it sounded nice, for a sportscar, but it was tiresome on long journeys. For my taste, it was not right with that exhaust.

As I said, at least it was cheap.

Paul , I'd suggest you replacing just the backboxes ..ok a little work from mi old mate was involved but if you have someone handy with a welder your laughing ..... its worked for me .... just loud enough without being too quiet obviously im not getting the full protential for performance but hey we're only talking 3 - 4 horses .... i can live with that !!!!

My good mate has a magnex custom exhaust on his mondeo for about 400 quid .... its been on two cars to date without a hint of trouble ..... i'll try and get the location and company's name for you unless you've already sorted something ?

MIJ will do a stainless cat back system for the 3.2 for less than £400. Lots of happy customers on the site that will testify to their work - the voices of reason?
