I used to do the paperclip test on my old Vec and I know that it doesn't work on anything newer. Just curious as to whether anyone had tried one of these leads to read off fault codes (I'm assuming that you can't use as tech2)

I would be interested also, To know what you actually can diagnose/read with this device !!?? I would be interested also, To know what you actually can diagnose/read with this device !!?? I have a Gendan OBD11 Reader, It won't read all codes but does allow resetting of the Engine Management light..

Most of these code readers are not CanBus, I know this one says it works on Vec C's but nowhere I could see does it say its a canbus reader, so I doubt it'll work.

The other problem with diagnosing on cars like the Vec C is that the EML light (car with spanner symbol) can come on if there's a fault with systems other than just the Engine. So if you've got a code reader that only reads from the engine, (which is most readers, and all ELM chipset based scanners) then you will only be able read and reset engine caused fault lights.

I guess that's the price of progress!! lol
