Default Tyres really do make a difference

Okay so I bought my car nearly a month ago now, wish I had bought a hatchback and wish I had gone for a CDTI but nevermind. Anyway, it came with new tyres on but nearly all of them were unknown manufacturors to me.

Then I buy some new alloys from Glenboy and they arrive with Mitchelin tyres on. Now the tread depth on them isnt as good as my new tyres but I figure that I may as well keep them on because they are probably a better tyre.

I was right, the handling is so much better its untrue, the car now grips the raod like I expect it to. Before it was very slippy and seemed on some occasions to decide its own favoured line around corners.

So top tip, get decent tyres and feel the benefit.

Yes indeed! Which Michelins BTW? If the Pilot Sport 2, then no wonder you noticed a difference, even with less tread than your old ones. They are a superb tyre and what go on my wheels.

In this months Which? magazine they do a tyre review and Uniroyals don't come out too well... Seems strange as I had a set on my old Astra and they were fantastic.
