V6 cdti Alternator [be warned]

Just got my 3.0 cdti back after 3 weeks,waiting for alternator to come from Germany.New alternator,belt tensioners,belts all in a cool £744.00.And thats after a 60% contribution from Vauxhall,I'm having the bill framed £1860.00 before vauxhall's 60%.I nearly fell off my chair when i saw the total amount.Just bought a warranty policy,just in case of any further big bill problems.


p.s It's not a 2 bolts and a bracket job.O/s/f suspension off,engine mounts to allow motor to be dropped enough to get to it,saw the old alternator,never seen anything like it ! + Belt tensioner £200 alone.

Did your dealer check to see if it was on the recall list

Last eight digits on my V6 are 4113****.And guess what,no blue paint dot!

Isn't it relevant only to the 1.9 though (the recall)?

I'm not sure! Is it for Denso alternators and 1.9 diesels or Denso alternators on 1.9 diesels?

Only vehicles equipped with a Denso Alternator (105A/120A/130A) and 1.9Diesel engine listed in the VIN info have to be reworked.

I read it as it Denso alternators on 1.9 diesels - maybe somebody can confirm for sure.

No recall on these alternators at present! Just got another £200 out of Vauxhall,every little helps.

i had alternator done under warranty didnt relise job cost so much at least i didnt pay

Me thinks the 3.0 V6 is a bit too pricey when it goes wrong .
Think mine will definatly have to go when the warranty is up
