CIM troubles, and TECH 2

hiya peoples,

my mate is having trouble with his car and has been told it is possilbe that itis the CIM module gone, now im looking around on ebay and finding everything other than the code i need which is XU. but i have read that XR replaces this somewhere? but my question is when the module gones down
, does it need to be replaced or can it be flashed as the unit has lost signal with the key or something.

does anybody in the bristol area have a tech 2 ?
