    Default Vectra CDTi 150 SRi

    Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping to be an owner of a vec-c soon but wanted to ask a few questions on the above model.

I currently own the 2.6 GSi (awesome car) and now looking for a change (due to practicality rather than personal choice) I'm keen on the 150 SRi CDTi - the 1.9 - but wanted to know if the new shape comes with the following as standard (I know the vec-b didn't unless it was GSI/CDX)

    - Climate Control
    - Full electrics (inc rear)
    - Cruise control

I'm also keen on having Xenons though I've not seen any 1.9's with this (seen a couple the 3.0 V6 CDTi's) - what kind of cost will it be to put these on via vuaxhall or DIY?

Your help will be most appreciated

    Hello m8 and welcome!!!!

I went from a 2.6 GSi to the new 3.2 GSi - and glad I did.
(I have all of your list above in the GSi spec, but as for the SRi spec - I don't think you'd get ECC (Electronic Climate Control), but you will get Electric Rear windows and Cruise Control. HID's are Optional extras.

    I hope this helps.

SRi spec as standard doesn't include rear electric windows unfortunately, because i've not got them.

I too was a 2.6 GSI Vec B owner and now have a 1.9 150 vec C. So I'm pretty well placed to give you a comparison. You will notice on the C's, that a lot of what used to be standard on the B is no longer the case with its direct replacement C. The first one, climate control, well my GSi only had Air Conditioning and not CC and I didn't think any GSis were made with CC. The SRi has got Air con. Again, my GSi did not have electric windows in the rear, but it did have an electric sunroof and electric Recaro seats. The Vec C SRi is only generous with the electrics in the front as well and you won't see a sunroof for love nor money. The Cruise Control is there, but there have been issues with it going wrong and it being attributed to the clutch return spring (year dependent I think). You are right about the Xenons, the SRi C doesn't have 'em (that's one thing I miss about the GSi). I think you would be talking silly money to get them fitted.
One thing you will notice, and I hardly need tell you this, is the fuel economy. I went from an average of 23mpg to 45mpg overnight. You will have read about the tuning boxes available for the diesels. These are very seriously worth considering as the power gains ar phenomenal plus your fuel economy is enhanced (unless you drive everywhere like Emerson Fitipaldi (showing my age there)). I haven't had chance to get my car on a rolling road since getting my box fitted, but I reckon I have GOT to be somewhere round about the 185/190 bhp mark (Vec B 2.6 V6 GSi=172bhp). I think that if you made the move, like me and many others on here, you will not be disappointed. Hope that helps.

as the guys have already said, the spec you are hoping for isnt standard fit on Sri's. You need to go the 'luxury' route and opt for the Elite if you want dual climate control, rear leccy windows, etc, not to mention a few other treats like full heated leather as standard, rear interior light (you'll know now much of a godsend this is when you get you sri that doesnt have one lol). Dimming mirror, auto wipers etc all standard kit on elites but options on the sri.

In exchange for all the toys and leather, you lose the lower suspension and bodykit of the sri.

I think the only toys standard across the range are aircon and cruise control, although most things like leather, xenons etc are available as cost option on the sri. if you find a used 1.9 sri in this spec i'd buy it as they are rarer than a brothel in a nunnery.

same as my 52 plate sri matt, it even had kerb lights which i dont have on my elite, and a really handy coin cubby drawer under the headlights switch which ive not got now. Im shocked how much kit they took off over the years.

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for all your comments - much appreciated.

The one think I found dissapointing with my current GSi is that it didn't come with back elec's - very strange when you consider it is the top model vec-b!

Anyhow - I've seen some 1.9's with the full electric pack/climate - but are very scarce.

I'm defo gonna buy the tuning box but also considering upgrading the alloys to either the 18" or the 19" Speedline!

Look at me, haven't even bought the car and already talking about mods!!!!

    Cheers,

    Sheraz

Mines got an electric memory sunroof...it's the only Vec C I've ever seen that's been fitted with one.

If you look hard enougth you'll find a well specced one. MInes got heated leather, colour sat-nav, 19" alloys as well as the sunroof. (Although it misses out on the auto wipers and lights)
