    Unhappy Caught Speeding (again)

Any idea how to set out and what to include in a statement of mitigation? Caught doing 72 in a temp 50 limit on the A1 in Northumberland. Temp limit as in not there at 5pm there at 9.30pm and not there the following morning.

Already have 6 points and this is a court summons.

Have you had the court summons through yet?
there is an option on it to fill in to plead by post - or you can go to court and try and tug the Mags' Heart strings.....
Doesnt usually work tho, and they have been known to give extra points for court appearances....

How old are your current points?

Summons came through on sat. Is it better to plead by post then? Have had conflicting information as to whether a personal appearance or post would be better (intend to plead guilty)

3 points from Jan 2006 and 3 from last Dec

About 10 years ago I got caught doing 100mph on the M180 and had to go to court.

Before attending I wrote a letter to the court saying that I admitted the offence but that it was out of character, that I drive for a living and my licence was essential to the job.

I also had someone write a personal character reference and also my service manager write a proffesional character reference and sent both to the court.

I put my hands up and said how sorry I was and that from now on I would be sticking to the speed limit. (which I have so far).

Instead of a ban which is nearly always the case - I was given £200 fine and 5 points.

Worth being honest and remorseful I think.

I'd say you have no chance, you're nearly 50% over, and these average speed checks on the motorway are there for a reason tbh.

Ahh, my bad, well if he has you on video doing that speed it's gonna be cheaper to plead guilty by post, if they haven't got a reading of you doing it and just pulled you estimating it *highly unlikely* then you could get off by going to court.
