Default Managed 38.3mpg over 130 mile trip yesterday

Coming back from a job in Rhyl yesterday, filled up at the petrol station, reset the trip computer and headed on back to the west mids.

OK so it was mainly motorway driving, and I was driving as economical as I could, for most of the way anyway! But I was still pleased with this figure - especially for the 2.2 petrol!

(I'm sure someone from the derv crew will be along shortly to bash me with info on how they get over 40 driving round town! LOL!! - p.s. that wasn't a comment to instigate another derv vs petrol arguement - just having a joke!)

That is fantastic.... my average over 1600 mile is 40.2 and mine is a 1.9 150 estate. That is motorway and mild urban.

    WELL DONE.

yeah but not when it only has 600 miles on it. It was worse on fuel than my old tuned RST!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

lol, probably needed a bit more loosening up then. I'm sure you obliged!

BTW Vid, meant to say - very good mpg for 1.8. As Rushy said, you think the 2.4 manifold had anything to do with it?

I filled my car up today (2.0 Turbo) and was a little disturbed when the pump read £50!! So, i decided to see how much fuel it would use on my return journey (106 miles) Its a combination of small A roads, and a stretch of Dual Carrigeway. Reset my computer and set off. The aim was to pull away sensibly from junctions etc, and keep to the speed of the road, or just under without holding up an traffic.

When i got back, MPG was 42.1 and consumption was 2.6 Gallons. With a bit of maths, i worked this out to be about £12.60 for 106 Miles.

Thats not the best thing though... doing the journey almost every week, and normally not really paying attention to the way i accelerate.. and being right on or "keeping up with the flow of traffic it only took about 15 mins longer. I reckon my normal drive cost me about £16-17 thats one hell of a saving over a short period of time.. But its always good once in a while to let the 2.0T do what it does best!!

Yep, it certainly was! Gawd knows where 1.8 came from as I read it as 2.2, especially with the manifold comment. I blame the wine! lol
