Question Roof Bars And Bike Carriers?

    Hi,

Can Anyone Help Me With The Above, Just Wondering What You Would Reccomend To Get, Main Dealers Or Elsewhere?

Oh And How Much Would I Be Looking To Pay.

I Have Two Bikes And Thinking Of Taking Them On Holiday This Year.

    Thanks

    Kev.

I got hold of some roof bars for about £30 and the same for each of the racks, all of ebay. Couldn't bring myself to buy new for something I was not going to use that often.

    I have Thule 591's I think. Got them from http://www.skidrive.co.uk/cycle/cyclesearch.php3?cat=cycle&type=roof&res=40&first= 0
Was the cheapest place I could find. I have been very impressed with them. Complete worry free transport. At the end of the day it's not just damage you could cause to your car, anyone elses car or even kill someone if they came off but you can be prosecuted for loosing your load (oo er)
For a few extra quid it's not worth risking the cheaper brands that aren't crash test approved.
Plus you can pose as you have the best you can buy
Even if they do only come out 2 or 3 times a year Note the amount of BMW & Audi drivers who leave theirs on

As above i have just bought the thule 591s from skidrive, cost £108 delivered cheapest i could find and delivered next day, ace carriers and our mtbs fit perfectly, bought the proper vauxhall aero bars from vauxhall approx £100 although i do think they are made by Thule as the 591s fit with the proper fittings that slide into the aero bars rather than around them.

thanks for the help guys, would rather put them on the roof than on the back, i had a rear carrier for my saxo a few year ago and it just didn't look safe.

    cheers again.

If you buy the Halfords roof bars, they are made by Thule. If you look on the inside of the plastic cover you remove to remove / fit the bars, it is printed with Thule. They are excellent.

I have a mont blanc carrier, which is okay, but wouldn't fit my new mountain bike, so I got the 591 Thule model.

It is ace, and all Thule kit comes with 5 year warranty.
