fuel filter water draining 2.0DTi

This is my first post so here we go. I attempted to drain the water from my fuel filter as it says it should be done yearly and as soon as I opened the drain valve at the bottom it seemed to be drawing air in. I closed it immediatly and my car is running fine. Does anyone out there know if this should happen? I've got a vectra 2.0 DTi (Y20DTH engine) on a 52 plate. Thanks

Just open it mate, it will drain.

actually got round to it this weekend. It did draw a bit of air in but was OK. Took a few attempts to start the car though. Cheers for the advise

i have the same engine so perhaps i should do mine as i have had the car 2 yrs and i dont think its been done. does it get done on a vx service and where is it?

it does(should

) get done on a VX service.. the drain is at the bottom of the fuel filter housing

excuse my ignorance but where is the fuel filter?

On my 2.0DTi veccy it is on the right side of the radiator water bottle when viewed from the front of the car. It's a black thing with 2 fuel lines going to it (Well, I assume one goes to it and one from it!).
