    Vehicle : Insignia

    Trim : SRI VX-Line Nav

    Engine : 2.0 CDTI [170 PS]

    Year : 2015

    Mileage : 27000

    Default VXR

Just a thought that entered my head if you look at the following link:

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zPHNPmfTopQ

No doubt a majority of us have seen this episode and J Clarkson probably lost some fans here - I still love his shows - but how accurate is his road test especially when the car cannot take corners. I'm no a VXR owner but I think that was fabricated.

What do the VXR owners on the forum think?

I would have thought that all front wheel drive cars will do the same when you give them too much stick round a corner so I think JC was just being over zeaous with his right foot

I don't drive a VXR but i would imagine attacking any corner full throtle, in a powerful front wheel drive car with the TC off would produce understeer. I guess he's trying to make a point (he isn't exactly pro vauxhall). From most of the VXR reviews I read at the time, he isn't in the in the majority.

EDIT: Damn, beat me to it. Im too slow at typing!

What makes that review so bad - and there is a previous - is that he drives the Mondeo ST 220, and says the Mondeo is a rarer car than an Aston Martin which makes it more exclusive. Would he say that about the Vectra if it was rarer than the Aston Martin - well there will flash floods in the Sahara Desert before he would even think about that.
In my opinion the Mondeo is a rarer car then the Veccy because it's not as good as a Veccy - slightly biased account.

    PS: Rant overLOL

Volvo, Ford and one more, Honda I think, all sponsor his Wife's Charity auction that she holds every year.

    Ford contribute most towards it.

    Make your own conclusions.

Remember the S60R test a few years ago. It looked like he was driving it like the VXR, then turned around and said it wasn't so bad after all!

    If I said to you.....

I want you to select a 300 BHP front wheel drive car.....

    Turn traction control off.....

Drive it hard around an airstrip until the tyres are almost bald and overheated.....

Then at 30 mph select 2nd gear and boot the throttle to the floor whilst turning hard into a corner....

Where's the car going to go ? ... what would your answer be ?

Well Mr Clarkson did a little misstake.
He pulled - the fuses for the traction system!

And of course with that much power on the front wheels you will have oversteer for sure. But he managed to put all systems of and no traction control and no ESP system available.

You should however read their latest test -
