Default Big Thanks to the Forum

CDTi in for 2nd service this morning (30,000 miles). Service reception rings to say the front and rear pads are both 80% worn.

'Fair enough,' I say. 'How much to change them?'

That'll be £130 for the front and £100 for the rears please (pads only).
    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

'Can I speak with parts please?' was my reply when I finally managed to speak.

Long story short, I am now getting the full disc and kit sets (F&R) fitted for a total of £242.00 + £20.00 for a brake fluid change.

So massive thanks to this site and all concerned for saving me a chunk of cash and stopping me getting firmly poked from behind by the stealers.

I don't mind paying for, and receiving a decent service at a decent price, but what thoroughly p****s me off is the fact that they'll try and have you over at the first available opportunity.

My mantra is to always, always ask if that's the best price. Prime example was before Christmas when the wife wanted a North Face winter coat when we were in town. Asked the guy at the till if he'd give me anything off and I blagged 10% - you don't get if you don't ask.
