    Default V6 Mpg

I was talking with VauxhallVeteran (Ian) the other day and we both agreed that in our experience of V6 Petrol cars, it doesnt matter if you drive fast or slow... the fuel consumption is nearly always the same.

Has anyone else noticed this ?

It all depends on how you drive, where you drive, and average speeds etc... so dont be fooled into thinking you've got a raw deal because your figures are lower than someone else.

    I've got

10 mpg when driving in stop start traffic... in a que heading into town
10 mpg when warp factor 5
    22-24 mpg average driving
30-32 mpg on the motorway at 70 mph (or near that) on cruise control

so, I would say typically its around 22-24 mpg

But considering its got over 300 BHP and 400 Lb/ft torque, I think thats fairly good actually.

For the V6 cars I've had, absolutely not. I've owned 6-cylinder (straight) Bmws and V6 Cavaliers, and when driven hard, the mpg would be quite low (low teens). On a track day, its very low mpg (but who cares ).
On a long run up to Scotland cruising, I'd get 32 ish mpg.
Going back to older cars there - can't comment on the current Vauxhall V6s.

Was really meaning driving it avoiding 2500 rpm through the gears as opposed to 4000 rpm through the gears, consumption always read out the same ime, so look at it as the difference between gentle vs enthusiastic.
