    Default Switch

Since I've had the car - Year in January - I have received this warning tonight) and about 5-6 other times:

    'Check Brake Light Switch'

I was once fortunate and it happened when I was reversing into a parking space where I could see the brake lights in my mirrors and the message popped up but the lights were all working.

Is the message telling me there is a fault with the switch and that it should be looked at or is it telling me that the car itself is performing a check?

Like I see say it only pops up now and then, but don't want to be rear ended because the switch never worked to turn on my brake lights!!

    Has anyone else suffered this?

Any help would be most appreciated

Remove all the bulbs and double check them. Not sure if you know but the vec will use another bulb if a brake light fails, so it may look like they are all working. While you have them out clean all the terminals incase its a bad connection in there. hth

Wouldn't that throw on the bulb failure though, and not switch issue?

Does the switch need resetting (you'll have to do a search on here about it), something to do with the plunger position.
