    Default Dual Mass Flywheel Symptoms

    can anyone tell me the symptoms of a duel mass flywheel on its way out, put foot on brake and the noise disappears or the clutch, also clicking in the back i got a mech to look at it and he said it was wear on the clips inside the carrier for the pads like hooks he said, he sorted it for a bit but its back,,, will be taking it to vx,,,,

    Rattling sound when car is in neutral and clutch is held at the biting point.

    omg thats it ,,,will have to take it in was just saying to someone that its been fine since i got it, ,,,ok when driving though just when out of gear goes away when press the clutch or brake ........

    It's amazing. The Vecs, Mondeo's, 407's and others ALL suffer this problem and cost upward of £1000 for a clutch.
    WTF were these manufacturers thinking?

    mines is more like a vibration not a loud rattle, i take it this is warrenty ???

    £1000 for a new clutch!Why is it so dear i usualy do them myself is the CDTI not a diy job then?

    on my 3rd now..............

    first one due to oil staining on clutch so changed the lot....
    second one due to realy bad vibration through the clutch pedal ?????i never noticed it realy, i was more bothered about a rattle from the alternator...

    edit......also was told £1300.00 per kit fitted

    TBH ,mines has been doing it for 13months - done 25000 miles in that time (63K on clock), ok could go tomorrow but i'm taking the chance. There is no cure long term wise, the technology is absolute cr4p - all a replacement will do is stop the noise but it will be right back again at some point. But the Dual Mass Flywheel is needed to cut engine vibrations through the drive train.

    Of those people who have had these flywheels replaced, who tows anything with their car?

    Also, does the clutch plate still have the damper springs in the hub on these, or is dampening completely done by the split flywheel arrangement to reduce shocks etc on the drivetrain?

    mines is sitting about 25k ,do they class this as under warrenty to replace?? this aint sounding to good lol,,wanna catch before the warrenty runs out, i have heard of a few going at this miles , other taxi driver reported the same and they replaced the turbo ???? confused the hell outta me...
