    Default Mixing oil?

When i took my car for its first service i had the 1 year service done.I thought that VX would use fully synthetic oil so i bought some for topping up,which i have not had to do yet If semi synthetic was used is it ok to top up with fully synthetic? It says Visco 3000 on my service receipt.

From checking Bp site if vaux have used visco 3000 semi synthetic oil it is the wrong oil for your car as it is 15w40, I would be going back to Vaux and asking some questions, check out this link
Sec from BP site for your car is: http://www.ew2.lubesinfo.com/framese...=1204&langid=1

    Vehicle : Vauxhall

    Engine : Z19DTH

    Year : Nosey

Default Kill the cheap scates! Or at least ask for the cost of oil and filter back.

The garage I bought my CDTI from told me to use a 10W40 oil which I though was cr*p and it actually says on the Vx web site to use a 5W30.

If the garage used anything else they are trying o save themselves money and you should kick their teeth in for trying to rec your car.

As for mixing, semi synthetic means reworked mineral oil, so you can mix them but you won't get the benifits of a fully synthetic because the mineral oil will strip it off the walls again.

Also I would not recomend mixing oils of greatly diffrent viscosities, they may seperate.

Have you noticed a drop in fuel economy and power?

Go back to dealers and complain you should get a free oil change as they have not followed GM recommended guidelines for your car. The dealer has used cheaper oil, but the oil used is not even an alternative option as it is too thick when cold so will not provide high quality cold start protection. You could always contact GM direct and complain.
