    Default Best Replacement Stereo?

Have been thinking about replacing my CDR2005 CD unit with something that has IPod connectivity.
I have considered the H&K Drive or other FM units that plug directly into the antenna socket and this may be a cheaper option, but am also considering just replacing the unit completely.
Is there a unit that fits neatly into the space (I gather I would need a vauxhall unit to fit the stereo into?) that nearly matches the dull grey of the original. I don't want something with flashing lights and covered in chrome

Can you buy the wiring so the steering wheel controls still work?

Has anyone got experience of either option?

yes, yes, yes you can buy LOADS of aftermarket head units that will fit, you will need a fascia adapter. Loads of makes and models around, you can get the steering controls to work on loads too.

What do you need, do you have a list of requirements and a cost in mind? Then go and buy one and fit it.

Maybe a post in the ICE section will get some specific responses from what people have done and what works.

I purchased an Alpine headunit from a member on here and it still uses the steering controls i also bought an ipod interface for it so that the ipod can be left in the glovebox and controlled from the head unit itself a must do mod im IMO sounds a hell of alot better than the standard one. Also the fascia from vx is a perfect colour match

Not necessarily. I have a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB52 and a Blaupunkt CANBUS interface in my facelift and the BC works fine, you can even set the clock.

Do you have the onboard computer still working then? Trip, fuel consumption etc and if you have how do change it between the different modes?
